From Julie Redbird
Dearest Johnny,
It is hard for me to put words to what I am feeling. Johnny, you are such a special person and when you ache, my heart aches for you. I wish I could take away the pain you feel, I wish I could act as a "human shield" to block all the attacks you have suffered...
Please know that YOU are special. We don't wait for medals, we wait for you. I want you to know that your skating transports me to a place that is pure and beautiful. And your words (for which you receive so much grief) are honest. A person who can walk this earth and live a life without guile is very rare and unique. Keep your chin up, Johnny, you are greatly loved.
I can't even imagine how difficult it must be for you to stay true to who you are under such intense pressure to change. There is a song I want to share with you. I call it "Johnny's Song" but the real title is "The Pearl of Great Price." This song reflects to me how much Creator Father loves you.
"Do you see the One who made the sky?
Dancing deserts blowing by,
He made them all for you and I
Would you believe?
"Do you see, do you hear, can you feel when He's near?
You're the pearl He came to find.
Do you see, do you hear, can you feel when He's near?
You're the pearl He came to find.
"Would you believe, that all the world's become His treasure,
but you're the greatest of them all.
Would you believe that when He looks into your eyes He sees the passion of the prize.
"I have searched the world to find you,
look into the Sun and you will see that,
I gave all I had to buy you.
Look into the Sun.
"Would you believe? Would you believe?"
We love you, Johnny!
Love,
